Four plus One
Explore perspectives
Exhibitions are important points of crystallisation for artists. That is the idea at the heart of the Hannover Re Foundation's engagement for “Meisterschüler:innen”. The title of the 2024 exhibition is “Four plus One”.
The more than a hundred guests attending the opening event were impressed by the widely different artistic positions on view. “I am absolutely delighted that once again this year we have been able to offer five aspiring young artists a stage to present their work to the public,” says Olaf Brock, Chairman of the Hannover Re Foundation's Board of Trustees for Art. “Their works reflect in manifold ways how they perceive the world – and that in turn gives us, as we contemplate them, an opportunity to explore our own perspectives.”
The exhibition format, in which students from Braunschweig University of Art's specialised courses in painting and sculpture present their latest works at Hannover Re, has existed since as far back as 2014. In the context of the anniversary exhibition “ReVisited 2023” marking ten years of the series, it was for the first time possible to include two Local Offices – in Stockholm and Paris – where individual works were similarly put on display. Building on this successful premiere, the company's headquarters is again not the sole exhibition venue: parallel to the presentation of four artists (Alwine Baresch, Fabien Diffé, Gerald Meilicke, Oskar Schroeder) taking place in Hannover, works by an additional artist (Nozomi Hasegawa) are profiled at the Local Office in Dublin. The name of this year’s exhibition therefore says it all.
These are the five artists whose works are displayed in the “Four plus One” exhibition:
