James Turrell
A new landmark for Hannover's sculpture garden
Hannover is getting a Turrell! By 2025 things should be ready: following the renovation of the Sprengel Museum's sculpture garden, work is set to commence on a new landmark for the city of Hannover. An outdoor installation by undoubtedly one of the most renowned contemporary artists, James Turrell, will then be created at the Sprengel Museum. The American artist is known for the magic of his light and space installations. Once again, the Hannover Re Foundation is thereby supporting its hometown's aspiration to be a lively and sought-after site of cultural exchange. "Entirely in keeping with the motto "Give back to the futurRe!', we are absolutely delighted to bring world art and a new attraction to the heart of Lower Saxony with the Skyspace," said Olaf Brock, Chairman of the Hannover Re Foundation's Board of Trustees for Art. The commission has been placed and the conceptual design phase is already underway.
