We bring down walls

Both physical and imaginary barriers were broken down in the night of 9 November 1989: the fall of the Berlin Wall changed the world. The not-for-profit organisation Falling Walls is channelling the spirit of that time and connecting leading minds from science, business and society to tackle the question: what will be the next walls to fall? All the participants stand for freedom of thought and scientific research in their effort to find solutions to global challenges and make ground-breaking ideas accessible to society.

Falling Walls presents scientific breakthroughs and their innovation potential. Throughout the entire world – real and virtual – Falling Walls creates spaces for intensive exchange between top researchers in all disciplines and their supporters in the business world, politics and civil-society initiatives.

The dialogue across borders opens up the opportunity to build an open, peaceful and sustainable world. In addition, the not-for-profit organisation offers scientists a platform to share their insights with the public in high-calibre science communication formats and promote transnational, integrative thinking.

As we, particularly in the area of sustainability, rely on strong partnerships, education and innovation to enhance our effectiveness and inject vitality into the idea "Give back to the future!" the cooperation with Falling Walls, started in 2023, perfectly fits our approach.

Science Engagement meets sustainability

We sponsor the Falling Walls Engage initiative – a global platform for Science Engagement that will enable us to generate broad publicity for our focus on climate change adaption.

Summer school on water security

In collaboration with Falling Walls, we have created an additional space for intensive and integrative exchange in the field of sustainability for talented young innovators and science engagers in 2023: in a summer school on Global Solutions for Water Security.
