Science Engagement meets sustainability

In 2024, we have taken the opportunity to sponsor the Falling Walls Engage initiative – a global platform for Science Engagement. Its mission is a better understanding and public involvement with science that helps to tackle global challenges through evidence-based decision-making and contributes to the overall well-being of our society. Falling Walls Engage will enable us to generate broad publicity for our focus on climate change adaption.

At the heart of Falling Walls Engage are the pitches presented on 7 November 2024 as part of the Falling Walls Science Summit in Berlin, where projects from all over the world will be presented. The global call for applications starts in March. With us as primary funder, a thematic focus will be set for the first time: projects that apply or are proposed must not only promote science engagement, but also have a connection to sustainability and climate change. What’s more, another aspect that is crucial to our foundation's work is taken into account in the selection criteria: Innovation. The 20 best project ideas will then compete in Berlin for the title of the Falling Walls Science Breakthrough of the Year in the Science Engagement category.
